How a demister works

A demister pad gently warms a section of the mirror so condensation is less likely to settle there. It does not usually heat every centimetre of a large mirror, and the clear area depends on the pad size and room conditions.

When it is most useful

Consider anti-fog capability in enclosed bathrooms with frequent hot showers, limited ventilation or several morning users. In a dry powder room, the feature may add little practical value.

Ventilation still matters

A demister treats the mirror surface; it does not remove moisture from the room. Effective exhaust ventilation helps protect finishes, reduces lingering humidity and improves comfort.

Questions to ask

Confirm the approximate heated area, how the function is switched, whether it operates independently from the light and any recommended usage instructions. Ask whether controls are clearly identified for guests or family members.
